#Help/Advice Double deduction on FAB during payout and delayed reversal confused my balance
I am posting here because I had a payment issue related to my streaming payouts and I figured others here might have dealt with similar banking problems.

A recent transfer into my FAB account ended up showing two deductions when I tried to move part of it out. The transaction failed on the first attempt, I tried again, and for some time it looked like both amounts were taken. One of them was reversed later, but not immediately, which made it hard to tell what I actually had available.

The timing made it stressful since I rely on these payouts and needed to use the funds quickly. It felt like the system was lagging behind real activity.

Has anyone else using FAB in the UAE seen something like this where a transaction looks duplicated and then gets fixed later? Also in that situation, what is the most reliable way to check your actual balance? The app did not feel accurate at that moment, so I was not sure whether to trust it or check another way.

Would help to know how others verify their balance when things like this happen.

That sounds really stressful, especially when you need the funds quickly. What you described — a failed transaction appearing as a double deduction with a delayed reversal — is actually a known issue with some banking apps, including FAB. The first attempt likely stayed in a pending state rather than failing cleanly, which can temporarily make it look like both amounts were taken. The reversal coming through later is the system correcting itself, but the delay is the frustrating part. For checking your real balance in situations like that, the most reliable option is usually to call FAB directly or use their live chat rather than relying on the app display, since pending transactions can make the balance look inaccurate. Some members also keep a simple log of their own transactions on the side for exactly this reason. Hope it all resolved cleanly for you.

What you ran into is actually pretty common here in Dubai, especially when you retry a transaction too quickly after the first one fails. The system often doesn’t cancel the first attempt instantly, it just leaves it in a pending state for a while. When you try again, it can look like both amounts are gone even though one of them is just waiting to be reversed.

The confusing part is that the app balance doesn’t always separate pending and completed transactions clearly, so it gives you that “something’s not right” feeling. In reality, the money usually isn’t lost, it’s just temporarily held until the system clears it.
When this happens, I usually don’t rely on the app alone. Checking through an ATM or waiting a few hours tends to give a more accurate picture. If it’s urgent, calling support helps, but even they sometimes only see what the system shows at that exact moment, which might still be mid-update.

If you want a better sense of how to confirm your actual balance during situations like this, I found this fab inquiry page quite useful. It walks through different ways people in the UAE double check their funds when the app feels off, and it’s written in a pretty straightforward way: https://fbbalancecheck.ae So overall, what you experienced is more of a timing issue than a real deduction problem. It just feels stressful because of the delay between the transaction attempt and the system catching up.
